ROBERT W. WIEN
President & CEO


Robert W. Wien, BA, MBA, JD, is a seasoned investment banker with more than three decades of experience as a senior advisor to companies, managers and owners. He has deep working and personal relationships in the business, financial and legal communities internationally, and has initiated and successfully completed hundreds of transactions and advisory engagements involving public and private companies across a broad array of industries, including construction and building products, real estate, energy and alternative energy, manufacturing, retail and consumer products, healthcare and biosciences and technology. Consistent with the founding philosophy of Mid-Market Securities, Mr. Wien brings large firm expertise and domestic and international processing capabilities to the middle market.

Mr. Wien is an Adjunct Professor of Law at New York Law School where he teaches "Private Capital Markets: Valuation, Capitalization and Transfer of Private Business Interests."

Mr. Wien began his investment-banking career with Dean Witter Reynolds Inc., after practicing law with Skadden Arps Slate Meagher & Flom, LLP. At Dean Witter he was Regional Director of Mergers and Acquisitions for the Southwest region for ten years and co-founder of the Restructuring Group. He was a Director in the Corporate Finance and the Real Estate Groups at Coopers & Lybrand, LLP and thereafter joined Josephthal & Co., Inc. where he was a Director of Mergers & Acquisitions and then Director of Investment Banking. Immediately prior to the formation and the registration of Mid-Market Securities as a FINRA registered broker dealer, he was EVP, Head of Investment Banking at vFinance Investments, Inc. Prior to joining Skadden Arps, Mr. Wien was a Staff Attorney for the Third Circuit Court of Appeals and a law clerk to Hon. Vincent L. Broderick, United States District Court, Southern District of New York.

DR. JOSEPH D. BEN-DAK
Of Counsel: Strategy, International Technology


Dr Joseph D. Ben-Dak has more than thirty years of experience as a consultant, financial and strategic counselor and advisor, to Governments, Banks, Public and Private Companies, Not-for-Profits and senior executives, managers and policy makers around the world.

Dr. Ben-Dak’s current client list includes Italian, Japanese and Korean groups organizing intelligence systems to guide leadership in global security policy contexts. He has helped define opportunities that include original systems of unobtrusive intervention in product development, measurement of community innovation and undersea resource harvesting.

Dr. Ben-Dak recently completed work as Chairman of a Washington, DC task force evaluating government investments in critical technologies. He has developed computer solutions and support systems for DOD and HSD. He has accomplished similar tasks in programs for higher education, language proficiency and health delivery needs.

Serving the United Nations as the Principal Advisor, Science and Technology and Public Management, to the UN Secretary General, and the founder and Chief of the United Nations Global Technology Group, Dr. Ben-Dak has initiated and established successful technology and science businesses in numerous countries including most of OECD, Israel, Africa, China, Russia and the Arab World. He has had extensive administrative and academic licensing experience in institutions including Professorships at Haifa, Israel and Sao Paulo Universities, Visiting Senior Scholar, Papua New Guinea’s Institute for National Planning, and Visiting Professor at Seoul National University and Kyung Hee University. He was instrumental in the original programming of Korea's KAIST/KIST, and the earliest introduction of formative evaluation to Japan's MITI (now METI) and similar major Asian Institutions.

Dr Ben-Dak served as the Academic Director, Israel's Air Force School for Senior Officers. This program pioneered top personnel multitasking training of technology and management including preparation of first time ever curricula.

He was elected fellow of AAAS in Mathematics and Economics and won the US National Academy of Science Dissertation Award for Peace Studies and Sociology. Dr. Ben-Dak is a graduate of Hebrew University, Jerusalem in Sociology and Middle Eastern Studies. He also has Masters Degrees and PhD's in Methodology and Organizational Sociology and in the Program of Research on Conflict Resolution, all from the University of Michigan. He has done post-doctoral work in the Social Impact of Science Policy at Lund University, Sweden and Conflict Resolution at Oslo University, Norway and, in 1994, along with the President of Mongolia, jointly received the first honorary doctorates from the Technical University of Mongolia.

ALAN COLLIER
Senior Managing Director

Alan Collier has more than 20 years of experience in corporate finance.  He specializes in the development and financing of early stage, high growth, and acquisitive companies (public and private).  Mr. Collier provides his clientele with a variety of services, including mergers and acquisitions, equity and debt placement, capital restructuring, joint venture development, and channel partner procurement.  Mr. Collier brings diverse experience across a wide array of industries, including aerospace, defense, information technology, healthcare, entertainment, transportation, manufacturing, and distribution.

Prior to joining Mid-Market Securities, Mr. Collier was Managing Director and co-managed the Capital Markets Group at Mosaic Capital. He was previously a Vice President at Corporate Capital Group and Managing Director and CEO of Greenbridge Capital Group.

Mr. Collier is the Co-Founder and a Managing Member of C2 Capital, LLC which provides management consulting services to companies preparing to go public, and of Kann, Collier & Company where he co-created a platform for taking U.S. companies public on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.

DOROTHY PRICE HILL
Senior Managing Director

Dorothy Price Hill has more than 18 years of experience in global financial services including investment banking, risk management and private placement advisory.  Her global practice includes publicly-listed and privately held companies within the financial, alternative investment, alternative energy, and technology sectors.  

 Ms Hill was a consultant with McKinsey & Co in Europe within the Financial Services practice following business school.  She then joined Goldman Sachs International where she spent nearly seven years in risk management and global client financing for Debt Capital Markets and Private Wealth Management. This included assignments in Tokyo, London and Frankfurt. Her work experience includes the Council on Foreign Relations and Siemens Corporation within Investor Relations as well as Finance. More recently, she has served on the Investment Committees of Zug, Switzerland-based Capital Dynamics and SV Investment Partners, a middle-market private equity fund.  

Ms Hill has been a member of the fundraising committees of Hedge Funds Care since 2003 and Mt. Sinai Neo-Natal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) since 2002. She
served as a NYC Chapter Co-Head of 85 Broads from 2002  through 2009, helping to build the Goldman Sachs alumnae network to more than 21,000 members globally.

Ms Hill received her Master of Business Administration from New York University’s Stern School of Business with a double major in Finance and Information Technology.  She holds a Bachelor Degree from Dartmouth College with a major in Government (International Relations) & German.   She is fluent in French and German.

ROGER McDANIEL
Senior Managing Director


Roger McDaniel has more than twenty years of financing experience, primarily in energy finance and project finance. He specializes in strategic and financial advice to energy and other companies, with specific focuses on the acquisition and divestiture of assets and on raising both equity and debt capital for companies and projects in various stages of development. He brings his experience as a consultant to the US Department of Energy's Loan Guarantee Program Office, a senior project finance lender and advisor with WestLB, and a utility M&A and project finance advisor with New Harbor, after having begun his Wall Street career as an attorney with Cleary, Gottlieb, Steen & Hamilton, specializing in financings.

Mr. McDaniel has advised clients on financings using venture capital, private equity, private and public debt, tax-exempt bonds, leveraged leasing, limited partnerships, public stock offerings, interest rate hedging and gold loans, as well as asset and corporate M&A transactions. His clients have come from a number of industries, including ethanol, environmental resource recovery, regulated and unregulated power, transportation, water and wastewater infrastructure privatization, waste-to-energy, metals and mining, oil and gas, telecommunications, and space. Financings have ranged from a $10 million venture capital financing to a $1.4 billion independent power project financing.

BRAD JOSEPH MONTERIO
Senior Managing Director

Brad J. Monterio brings more than 20 years of experience advising companies and their senior management and owners on global business and strategic development, including capital introductions and fundraising, management consulting, marketing, branding, communications and investor/media relations.  He has niche expertise in financial services and financial technology sectors, including XBRL (eXtensible Business Reporting Language) technology; CleanTech and Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG)/Responsible Investing sectors; accounting services (i.e., companies that provide tax, audit, investment advisory, business valuation, forensic services) and accounting technologies. He has counseled US and international financial services companies, corporations, private equity/hedge funds, professional services firms and technology consortia, as well as professional associations, standard setting bodies, regulatory bodies and credentialing organizations that serve these same sectors. He uniquely integrates comprehensive fundraising, financial marketing and communications strategies to help organizations attract capital. Mr. Monterio has particular specialty with early stage and start-up businesses.      

Mr. Monterio serves as Managing Director of CMH Partners LLC, a global investment banking advisory services firm specializing in capital introductions, capital fundraising and investor relations. He is also Managing Director of Colcomgroup, Inc., a global strategic management consulting and marketing services firm that helps organizations establish/grow market share, open new markets/channels, develop new revenue streams, and source strategic partners. CMH Partners leverages the media relations and financial marketing expertise of Colcomgroup for its investment banking clients.

Previously, Mr. Monterio has served in senior positions at Chase Manhattan Bank within International Private Banking and the Investment Products Group, as well as at Fitz and Floyd, Inc. He has also managed a proprietary marketing consulting firm.     

He is a member of several professional, trade and community organizations, including the Institute of Management Accountants (IMA), the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE), the Sustainability Working Group, the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), AccountAbility, and the NY Tech Council.  Mr. Monterio regularly speaks and writes on management, XBRL, ESG/sustainability, marketing and communications issues and is an award-winning artist and product designer.

CHRISTOPHER D. WESTGATE
Senior Managing Director

Christopher D. Westgate, MBA, CBI, brings discipline, temperament and focus honed from more than eighteen years in Aviation, as an Aviation Officer, Captain and Pilot of Boeing 727’s, 737’s, 757’s and 767’s, Director of Operations, Director of Training and Aviation Finance Consultant. 

Mr. Westgate couples formal academic training from a top MBA program with extensive experience as a Certified Business Intermediary advising small and mid-sized companies and their owners across a wide array of industries including but not limited to Aviation, Real Estate, Construction, Retail, Food Service, National and International Governments, Manufacturing, Consumer products and the Biological Sciences.  He has significant experience with valuations, SBA and private sector financing, succession and strategic planning and buy-side and sell-side advisory.  In addition Mr. Westgate has been a founder and participant in several startup businesses.

Prior to joining Mid-Market Securities, Mr. Westgate founded Westgate Group, LLC located in Miami Florida, a lower middle market mergers & acquisitions and commercial real estate practice where he continues to serve as CEO and President.  

Mr. Westgate is a former US Navy Officer and Enlisted service member.  He spent seven years in the U.S. Navy and served during the Gulf War.  Mr. Westgate is fluent in Spanish and has extensive business and consulting experience in Latin America, Europe, Africa and Asia.

He received a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Chicago School of Business, with concentrations in Economics, Finance and Strategic Management.  He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Salisbury University.

SHERYL WUDUNN
Senior Managing Director

Sheryl WuDunn brings a unique blend of investment advisory and project management skills, personal relationships around the world, and various industry knowledge to private companies seeking access to new capital or financial advisory services.  She has particular expertise in mainstream and new media, with experience in financial services, energy and alternative energies, business restructuring and strategy development for small businesses.  She has managed economic and financial coverage in China and East Asia, where she lived as a correspondent for The New York Times.  

Previously, she worked at Goldman, Sachs & Co., where she was a vice president, in the role of investment advisor for private clients, in the firm's investment management division.  She also worked as a commercial loan officer at Bankers Trust.    

Her background includes several roles as both an executive and journalist at The New York Times, where she developed a deep and broad network of contacts across a wide range of industries.  She ran the Times' coverage of international markets, energy, global technology and industry;  she helped develop long and short-form news documentaries for The Times' digital cable TV channel; she held management roles in strategic planning and circulation at The Times; as a foreign correspondent for The Times in Tokyo and Beijing, she wrote about economics and finance, as well as political issues.   

Ms. WuDunn was the first Asian-American to win a Pulitzer Prize in reporting, is a best-selling author, business executive and lecturer, and has strong ties to the philanthropic community.  She recently co-authored Half the Sky: Turning Oppression into Opportunity for Women Worldwide, a New York Times best-selling book, featured on The Oprah Winfrey Show, The Colbert Report, Dateline NBC and many other network television shows.   
 
With her husband, Nicholas D. Kristof, she has co-authored two other best-selling books about Asia: Thunder from the East and China Wakes.  Ms. WuDunn won a Pulitzer Prize with her husband for covering China, along with the Dayton Literary Peace Prize for Lifetime Achievement.  She has also won other journalism prizes, including the George Polk Award and Overseas Press Club awards.    
 
She graduated from Cornell University, where she is a member of the Board of Trustees, and is a member of the Board’s Finance Committee. She is a former member of the University's nine-member investment committee overseeing a $4 billion endowment.  She earned an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School and an M.P.A. from Princeton University’s Woodrow Wilson School.

McGAVOCK DICKINSON BRANSFORD
Managing Director

Dickinson Bransford, MBA, Certified Business Intermediary, has 25 years of small to mid-sized company financial advisory, management consulting, and large company operating experience.

 Located near San Francisco and Silicon Valley, he provides growth and transition solutions to companies seeking to build shareholder wealth via sale of the business, merger, acquisition, access to growth capital, restructuring/recapitalization, strategic alliances, joint ventures, and market value enhancement advisory services.

 Prior to joining Mid-Market Securities, Mr. Bransford was one of five Principals of ABI Business Sales, Mergers & Acquisitions, a San Francisco Bay Area business brokerage and M&A advisory firm serving privately held companies.  He worked within several industries, and concurrently, developed the Tranzequity Advisors practice area to focus on companies in medical and/or information technology markets, healthcare, computer/electronics, business services, and precision manufacturing.

 Mr. Bransford’s operating experience includes product management, strategy and operations, both inside organizations and as an outside advisor, and he has held various management positions, such as: Vice President of Corporate Strategy and Assistant Vice President of Membership Marketing with the U.S. 17th largest property & casualty insurance provider, AAA/California State Auto Association; Del Monte Foods Product Manager with P&L accountability for businesses generating $65 million in annual revenue; and interim management of a small company he acquired.  As a Consultant, he worked with business acquirers to evaluate candidates and to integrate acquired companies, sellers preparing for sale, launched a start-up, and developed turnaround plans for unprofitable businesses.

Gimpelevich DAVID J. GIMPELEVICH
Managing Director

David J. Gimpelevich has more than 20 years of experience leading high-value initiatives as an operating executive as well as serving as a senior advisor and consultant to owners and managers of public and private companies, both healthy and distressed.  Mr. Gimpelevich’s global experience includes responsibilities for Western Europe, Latin America, Ukraine, Japan, South Africa, Australia, New Zealand and the United States.  He brings diverse operating and advisory expertise across a wide array of industries, including but not limited to: consumer products and services; consumer technology; information technology; specialty apparel; real estate property and portfolio management, development, acquisitions and financing; restaurants and retail.  Mr. Gimpelevich has been intimately involved in restructuring turnarounds and workouts as well as distressed investing.  He has completed transactions representing more than $1.6 billion in value.

Prior to joining Mid-Market Securities, Mr. Gimpelevich was a Vice President with GLL Partners, a European private equity firm, where his responsibilities included global M&A and investment and risk management for the Western United States and Latin America, identifying acquisition candidates, performing operational due diligence, structuring, negotiating and financing.  Previously, he served as an operating executive with a subsidiary of Mattel Inc. and a series of IT firms, including two startups ultimately sold to strategic acquirers.  Additionally, he serves in leadership nonprofit board positions with the Haas Alumni Network and the fools FURY Theater Company.

THOMAS A. HAYS
Managing Director

Thomas A. Hays has more than twenty years experience as a global investment banker, real estate executive and entrepreneur.   He has sourced and initiated transactions in real estate, hospitality, alternative energy and related projects.  Mr. Hays is a principal and developer of real estate and hospitality globally and a trusted advisor on select venture capital and strategic opportunities for an international client base.

Mr. Hays was an investment banker with Merrill Lynch Capital Markets in New York following business school where he worked with global corporate, governmental and financial institutions accessing the U.S. debt markets.  He then joined Bankers Trust International in London, where he structured equity, interest rate, currency and commodity based derivative product transactions for European financial institutions.  After his tenure in London, he began developing real estate projects in the U.S. and recently expanded to developing hospitality projects internationally.  Continuing to leverage his network of international contacts, he is working on a variety of alternative energy, affordable housing and data center projects in the U.S. and abroad.

His transaction and financing projects include sourcing distressed hotel assets, raising capital for affordable housing, data center and international renewable energy projects, and funding the launch of a leading Internet-based SaaS platform serving the $200B meetings segment of the hotel industry.  His signature hospitality development project, Riad Meriem, in Marrakech, Morocco, is a luxury boutique property selected in 2009 as one of the “Top 30 New Hotels in the World” by Travel + Leisure magazine.

AAMIR MUMTAZ
Managing Director

Aamir Mumtaz brings international experience and relationships to Governmental and Private Sector Information Technology clients.  He is an entrepreneur, owner and builder of businesses, investor, consultant and advisor to public and private companies and their owners.

Mr. Mumtaz is a Certified Project Manager (CMP) by the Project Management Institute (“PMI”) (www.pmi.org), the dominant not-for-profit association for the project management profession.  PMI is an international organization with more than half a million members and credential holders in over 170 countries.  He has extensive experience in the field of Management, Business, Consulting and Information Technology.  Beginning his career in the United Kingdom as a Systems Engineer with Electronic Data Systems he later worked for British Telecom, CGU/Aviva Plc and Lloyds of London holding a range of Technology, Management and Executive positions.  Having formed three start-up companies during the last fifteen years, he is well versed in the process of leading and growing businesses.  In 1996, Mr. Mumtaz launched a consulting services company Softex Systems, Ltd., where he formed partner relationships and achieved certified partner status with many leading software vendors.  As the owner of Tax Service Franchises operating in New York City and Florida, he started and managed two operations with 125 staff and 30 separate service locations.  Previously he had founded Next Education Limited, a provider of online training delivering learn-direct programs on behalf of the UK Department of Education and Skills. 

With broad sector experience covering Financial Services (including Insurance and Reinsurance), Telecommunications, Technology, Consulting, Public Sector, Manufacturing, Education and Criminal Justice, Mr. Mumtaz is well diversified.  His operating experience is at senior levels - VP Operations, CIO, and Board Member and his functional focus is Organizational Development, General Management, Operations, Strategic Planning, Software Development, Vendor Management and Project Management.  His international perspective and connections are drawn from in depth on the ground work with companies throughout Europe, the Middle East, South Asia and more recently the U.S.

Mr. Mumtaz is a member of various Angel Networks in New York and Connecticut.  His area of work includes analysis and evaluation of businesses to determine their viability as investments, the formulation of business strategy, and the implementation of operational improvements and restructuring initiatives.  He also volunteers for the Project Management Institute to develop intellectual property and examination questions for their world wide credentials.

NourjianR. GREGG NOURJIAN
Managing Director

R. Gregg Nourjian is a seasoned entrepreneur with more than 25 years of business experience in start-up environments and growth stage enterprises.  He has taken on roles in marketing, sales and operations, as well as C-level positions as CEO, CMO, and COO.  His strengths include positioning, branding, strategic partnerships, finance, and overall strategic planning.

 

Mr. Nourjian is President & CEO of Nourjian Ventures, a venture management company that helps to develop products and brands, build business lines, source strategic R&D, manufacturing, sales, marketing and distribution partners and build management teams.  He draws from extensive project management experience in finance, production, sports & event marketing, real estate, hospitality & entertainment, and strategic business development & consulting. Mr. Nourjian’s industry expertise includes Clean Technology, Environment, Energy, Communications, Real Estate, Healthcare/services, and Consumer Goods.

Mr. Nourjian has ongoing affiliations with the Greater Boston Chamber, the Greater Boston Convention and Visitors Bureau, the Mass Production Coalition, the Environmental Business Council, The New England Council, the MIT Enterprise Forum, the National Sports Marketing Network, the Dartmouth Entrepreneur Network, and is a Boston World Partnerships Connector.  He serves on the Boards of, and in advisory roles for, the Courageous Sailing Center, the Newbury Street League, the Newport International Film Festival, Public Action for the Arts, and The ALLY Foundation.

Mr. Nourjian received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Economics from Dartmouth College, where he is a member of the Alumni Council and President Emeritus of his Class.

MICHAEL J. WYNNE
Managing Director

Michael J. Wynne has more than 20 years of investment banking experience backed by five years of engineering experience at GE. He has expertise in project finance, infrastructure investment, private equity, M&A and private placements, with skills in business development; joint ventures; structuring and negotiating transactions; risk evaluation and credit; financial modeling and valuation; and documentation and syndication. He has advised clients regarding the structuring and execution of innovative equity and debt financings in several sectors, including power, renewable energy, infrastructure, energy and telecom. As lead arranger and advisor, Mr. Wynne has raised global capital in excess of $15 billion, closing several “Deals of the Year.”

 Currently as Consultant to the US Department of Energy's Loan Guarantee Program Office, Mr. Wynne provides project finance expertise to solar generation, biofuel and photovoltaic manufacturing transactions. 

 As Senior Vice President at GE Capital, Mr. Wynne was responsible for the development of a joint venture with an India-based construction company to create a $500 million private equity fund focused on infrastructure investments, led several deal teams focused on airport and port equity and debt investments, and participated in the investment committee for Global Infrastructure Partners. 

 As Managing Director of Global Project Finance at Westdeutsche Landesbank (“WestLB”), Mr. Wynne managed a deal origination and execution team with a “hands-on” focus as originator and transactor on advisory and lead arranger mandates in telecom infrastructure project financings.  As a Director of Project Finance at Barclays Capital and Vice President at Bayerische Landesbank (“BayernLB”), Mr. Wynne led several project finance transactions in infrastructure, power, renewable energy, petrochemical, gas pipelines, submarine fiber optic cables, satellite constellations, etc.

 At Combustion Engineering, Asea Brown Boveri, Mr. Wynne structured equity and mezzanine financings, as well as raised debt financing, for international project finance joint ventures and partnerships in the power, petrochemical and pulp & paper sectors.

 Additionally, Mr. Wynne worked at New England Electrical System, an electric utility, as a treasury associate focused on equity investments in power and transmission projects. He also worked as a development engineer for General Electric.

 Mr. Wynne holds a BS with distinction and an MS achieved as a National Science Foundation Fellow, both in Mechanical Engineering from Cornell University, and an MBA with high honors from Boston University. He is also a Professional Engineer.
