Located in Northern California, Michael Samra’s entrepreneurial activities and experience include: developing and managing more than 1,500 acres of orchards and vineyards for various funds and Companies, farming wine grapes and almonds, and running a real estate business specializing in the sale and lease of both developed and raw land. Pursing this passion may seem afar from advising Companies and Owners as a seasoned Investment Banker, but it provides invaluable perspective and understanding when working with Clients.
Michael Samra has more than a decade of investment banking experience imposing an Owner’s perspective for public and private companies to assist with engagements as diverse as: (i) Strategic planning solutions for mergers, acquisitions, divestitures (e.g., evaluating the best economic outcome for an orthopedic device manufacturer – market cap of $35MM); (ii) Exit Planning (e.g., the sale of a health outcome/analytics provider – market cap of $50MM); (iii) Identifying and Sourcing Start Up and Growth Capital for an international shipping freight forwarder; and (iv) Refinancing/Restructuring equity and debt (e.g., $30MM debt restructure of a healthcare nutrition company).
Prior to joining Mid-Market Securities, Michael was as a Senior Associate at Epsilon Securities LLC, an investment banking and consulting firm focused on healthcare technology, information technology, outcome evaluation, and healthcare service providers. He began his career at Investors Economic Assurance (“IEA”) in New York City, a firm specializing in the accounting and accountability of client distribution calculations for one of the largest private equity funds in the world with assets under management of more than $5Billion. Despite his youth, Michael was integral in the development of IEA’s flagship software product that enables large Funds to track and distribute earnings of portfolio companies to their Fund clients.
Michael joined Mid-Market Securities in 2006, and moved to the West Coast in 2012 where he has been integral to the growth of the Firm’s West Coast presence. His diverse Industry experience includes farming, agriculture and agricultural equipment, wineries, digital and new media, healthcare and biotech, and real estate and development. He has assisted early stage and mature companies with transactions ranging from growth capital raises for startups to private placement for large cap international entities.
Mr. Samra holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Finance from the Leonard N. Stern School of Business at New York University. He is a registered representative and holds licenses for the Series 7, 63, 79.
